Fitness Governing Bodies
BCRPA (BC Recreation and Parks Association)
BCRPA is nationally and internationally recognized through affiliation with the NFLA (National Fitness Leadership Alliance http://www.nflacanada.ca/) and ICREPs (International Confederation of Registers for Exercise Professionals http://www.icreps.org/).
BCRPA is the only registering body in BC under the NFLA (National Fitness Leadership Alliance), which means their leaders abide by national performance standards. The NFLA is a membership-based organization made up of one representing registration body per province. Many community centers and municipalities will only accept BCRPA registration for its provincial recognition and standards. One thing to note as well is that as an NFLA member, BCRPA’s registration is directly transferrable to other NFLA members. So you could transfer your BCRPA registration easily to an Ontario registration, an Alberta registration, a Manitoba registration, etc. In addition, the NFLA is a part of a larger registering body called ICREPs (International Confederation of Registers for Exercise Professionals), which is the international version of the NFLA – so BCRPA registration is transferrable all across the world.
